The pathway begins earlier than most imagine — and it begins here.

What does learning look like when school is connected to real careers and real people?

At the Academy for Innovation in Medicine (AIM), learning does not stop at the classroom door. Through our partnership with Grady Health System, students begin exploring healthcare early, building skills over time, and gaining real insight into what it means to work in healthcare.

This approach is called Career Connected Learning, and it is designed to help students grow with confidence — without being rushed or boxed into a single path.

For families, this means your child is supported in discovering what interests them, developing practical skills, and graduating with options they can actually use.

Students are supported in exploring healthcare — they are not locked into a single path.

What Is Career Connected Learning?

Career Connected Learning connects strong academics with real-world experience, so students understand why what they are learning matters.

At AIM, Career Connected Learning includes:

  • Rigorous core academics aligned to healthcare careers

  • Hands-on experiences and simulations

  • Mentorship from healthcare professionals

  • Early credentials and college coursework

  • Clear pathways into the healthcare workforce or continued education

The AIM x Grady Student Journey

Career Connected Learning is not a single program or moment. It is a pathway that develops over time.

Middle School (Grades 6–8): Explore & Discover

Students begin by exploring healthcare careers, learning how healthcare supports communities, and building foundational skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Students gain:

  • Early career awareness

  • Strong academic habits

  • Confidence and curiosity

High School (Grades 9–10): Build Foundations

Students deepen their learning through healthcare-aligned coursework, early certifications, and introductory clinical exposure.

They begin to understand the variety of roles within healthcare and how those roles connect.

High School (Grades 11–12): Earn Credentials & Experience

Students participate in dual enrollment, advanced coursework, and supervised clinical experiences.

Many graduate with an associate degree and industry-recognized credentials.

Students gain:

  • College credit

  • Practical clinical experience

After Graduation: Workforce or Continued Education

Graduates leave AIM prepared to:

  • Enter the healthcare workforce

  • Continue toward a bachelor’s or advanced degree

  • Build a career that offers stability, purpose, and growth

Grady-Aligned Healthcare Pathways

AIM’s pathways are aligned with Grady’s highest workforce needs and are designed to open doors — not limit choices.

Pathways include:

  • Patient Care & Nursing Support

  • Emergency & Trauma Services

  • Pharmacy & Laboratory Sciences

  • Health Informatics & Hospital Operations

Students explore multiple pathways before choosing a direction, with guidance and support along the way.

What Students Experience Through Grady

Students engage in age-appropriate, supervised experiences that help them understand healthcare work in real ways.

These experiences include:

  • Healthcare simulations and skills labs

  • Communication and empathy training

  • Exposure to hospital systems and professional roles

  • Mentorship from healthcare professionals

  • Structured work-based learning opportunities

Each experience is designed to build confidence, not overwhelm — helping students feel capable and supported.

Why This Partnership Matters

Grady Health System is a cornerstone of healthcare in Atlanta. Through this partnership, students learn in an environment that values both clinical excellence and community care.

Together, AIM and Grady are building pathways that:

  • Expand access to healthcare careers

  • Strengthen the local workforce

  • Support students in building futures they can sustain

Career Connected Learning at AIM is about helping students grow into who they are becoming — with clarity, confidence, and real opportunity.
