Transportation

Transportation

Important for ALL:

There are no student checkouts after 2:45 p.m. This safety procedure allows us to prepare for an orderly and efficient dismissal.

For everyone’s safety, parents, guardians, and students should always use sidewalks and designated crosswalks.

Thank you for helping make our first week of dismissal such a success! With only a few minor adjustments, the car rider line has moved quickly and efficiently because of  your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we continue to refine our procedures.

To ensure the safety of all students, families, and staff, please review the following expectations:

  • Please do not line up before 3:20 p.m. Early arrival causes traffic backups and blocks surrounding streets. We must keep roadways clear for our neighbors and emergency vehicles.

  • The dismissal line will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.

  • Display your AIM Car Rider tag in your front windshield every day so staff can quickly identify your student. If someone else is picking up your child, please give them the tag or ask them to clearly write the number on a piece of paper and display it in the front windshield.

  • Pull all the way forward behind the vehicle in front of you. Please do not leave gaps in the line.

  • Updated Traffic Pattern:

    • Please do not stop at the corner.  Continue to the designated pickup location behind the school on Magnolia Lane.

    • Morning Arrival: Pull to the gate.

    • Afternoon Dismissal: Pull all the way to the stop sign.

  • Do not block crosswalks or Main Street while waiting in the pickup line.

  • Please drive slowly and cautiously. We have observed some vehicles entering the pickup lane too quickly. Help us keep everyone safe by reducing your speed and remain alert for students, staff, and families.

  • Parents and guardians must remain in their vehicles and follow the designated traffic pattern during dismissal.

  • Do not park or leave your vehicle while in the pickup line.

  • Do not block neighboring driveways or surrounding streets while waiting.

  • Students will only be released when your vehicle reaches the designated pickup location.

If you arrive after 3:45 p.m., any remaining car riders will be waiting inside the elevator lobby. Please pull all the way to the edge of the gate before your student is dismissed.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping dismissal safe, efficient, and smooth for all of our families. By working together and following these procedures, we can ensure every scholar gets home safely each afternoon.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to distribute MARTA student cards. This is something new for everyone and we are learning how to use MARTA’s systems.

MARTA Commuter Program Update

Thank you to the many families who are utilizing the AIM Commuter Program! We appreciate your patience as we launch this new program alongside MARTA.

Important Update for Monday

A small number of students experienced issues with their MARTA cards on Friday afternoon. Please ask your scholar if their MARTA card worked when they traveled home on Friday. If it did not, please make sure they have an alternate way to get to school on Monday. We will work directly with MARTA to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

How the AIM Commuter Program Works

Each morning, parent volunteers serve as MARTA Monitors at designated end stations. Students check in with the monitor, ride together in the first train car, and walk as a group from Lindbergh Station to AIM. The same process is followed each afternoon as students return to their home stations.

Parents are responsible for:

  • Ensuring students arrive at their departure station on time each morning.

  • Picking up students promptly at their destination station each afternoon.

  • Please refer to the transportation schedule below for station departure and arrival times to meet our monitors.

Student Safety

🚨 MOST IMPORTANT:

  • Please remind your student that if they become lost or separated from the AIM commuter group, they should remain on the train or bus until they are met by a uniformed MARTA employee, MARTA Police officer, or an AIM employee. We will find them.

  • Under no circumstances should a student leave a station or bus stop unattended or attempt to find their own way. Students should stay where they are, remain calm, and wait for assistance from a trusted adult. Our staff and MARTA personnel will work together to reunite every student safely. Students were provided a safety card with important information.

  • Student safety is our highest priority. We encourage all families to:Download the free MARTA See & Say app to report safety concerns directly to MARTA Police.Review MARTA's Ride with Respect expectations with your scholar.Remind students to remain with the AIM commuter group and follow the directions of our parent monitors.

How to Reload Your Student MARTA Card

Families can easily add fare to their student's MARTA Breeze Card at any MARTA rail station using a Breeze Vending Machine.

Select "Reload Card" on the vending machine screen.

  1. Tap your student's Breeze Card on the Breeze target.

  2. Select the fare you would like to purchase (trip, pass, or stored value, as applicable).

  3. Insert your payment using cash, coins, or a credit/debit card.

  4. Tap the Breeze Card on the target a second time to load the new fare onto the card. This final step is required to complete the reload.

Discounted Breeze cards may NOT be reloaded online.

Tip: Before your scholar travels, check that the card has sufficient fare loaded to avoid delays during their commute.

We created AIM with access in mind

Students can get to AIM using MARTA, carpools, or other transportation options, allowing families flexibility in how they plan their day. AIM is close to GA-400, and I-85 and a 2-minute walk from the Lindbergh MARTA Station, making it easy for students to travel across metro Atlanta without long or complicated commutes.

AIM staff offers student orientation on safe MARTA usage and designated staff members help students transition to and from MARTA. Clear procedures are in place if a student misses a shuttle or needs assistance. If using MARTA, families are encouraged to practice routes with students in advance so they feel confident navigating stations and transfers independently.

MARTA card scholarships are available for students who need them so transportation costs are never a barrier to opportunity at AIM.
